New Year Green Resolution: Plant 2023 Trees
Our New Year campaign to plant 2,023 trees in Jaipur and care for them for two to three years, crowdfunded on Milaap and launched with a planting drive on 1 January 2023.
What we did
We set a New Year goal of planting 2,023 trees around Jaipur, with two to three years of care for each sapling, and raised funds for it on Milaap. Saplings were collected on 30 December 2022. On 1 January 2023 a backhoe cleared and levelled the ground in west Jaipur, and volunteers planted the first saplings that afternoon. On 2 January we bought 100 saplings from the Rajasthan Forest Department's government nursery in Jaipur, and planting continued on 5 January.
Long-term impact
Watering, maintenance and survival care of the saplings continued through 2023-24 and 2024-25.
